Join us as we cheer on our Director of Coffee, Liz Bishop, who is set to compete in the 2019 National Cup Tasters Competition. The event kicks-off today until March 3rd, at Transcend Coffee & Roasters in Edmonton, Alberta. Liz will also be on the judging panel for the 2019 National Brewers Cup competition, which runs concurrently, at the same venue.
Liz has over 14 years of experience in the coffee industry, holding a variety of positions across the profession – including roaster, trainer, head barista, café manager and more. She is a Level 2 Certified Barista with the Barista Guild Association, an SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) Certified Instructor and holds the Q Grader certificate.
In her current role, as the Director of Coffee at Reunion Island, Liz is responsible for continuously improving our coffee program and ensuring we deliver on our mandate of sustainably sourced and ethically produced coffee. Frequently called upon to use her expertise, Liz has been a judge and competitor at coffee competitions and events around the world.
The National Cup Tasters Competition brings together the best coffee cuppers from around the country to compete. The winner of this competition goes on this Spring to represent Canada in the World’s Tasters Cup Competition in Berlin, Germany.
The National Brewers Cup competition unites the best coffee brewers from around the world. The competition highlights the craft of filter coffee brewing by hand, promoting manual brewing and service excellence. The winner will go on to represent Canada at the World Brewers Cup Championship held this April in Boston.
